Obituary for Harold William Sharpnack

Harold William Sharpnack, age 92, of rural Huxley, passed away on February 21, 2019 at Story Medical Senior Care in Nevada.
He was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on December 2, 1926 to William and Icel (Hopkins) Sharpnack. Harold graduated from Sheldahl High School in 1944, was drafted into the Army Air Corps in 1946 and honorably discharged in 1947. He married Alice Marie Smith on May 21, 1948. They remained married for 70 years. They moved to rural Huxley in 1959 and over the years Harold farmed, drove trucks, worked for the Iowa Highway Commission, and from 1968 to 1976 he and Alice owned and operated Sharpnack TV and Appliance. Harold and Alice raised four children, two nieces, and one nephew. He retired in 1982 due to medical issues. Harold was a member of Fjeldberg Lutheran Church.
Harold is survived by his daughters: Sandra (Todd) Flemmer of Huxley and Patsy Quintus of Tenino, WA; sons: Tom (Linda) Sharpnack of Huxley and Randy (Carol) Sharpnack of Cambridge; nieces: Connie (Al) Woody of Springfield, MO and Mary Klonis of Phoenix, AZ; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice; a son-in-law, Jerry Quintus; a nephew, Rich Thompson; great-grandson, Gage Morgan; and 50-year friend and family member, Elwood Ramsey.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Soderstrum Funeral Home in Slater and online condolences may be left for the family at A Celebration of Life service for Harold and Alice will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the Cambridge Community Center, 203 Water Street, Cambridge, Iowa.
